Hospice Care

Holding HandsHospice care is provided to individuals who have an illness or diagnosis that is life limiting. At Saint Elizabeth Manor and Saint Elizabeth Home, our staff has received special training on hospice care. Additionally an individual and family may choose to receive additional support from a hospice provider whose staff comes to our residence to provide hospice care.

At any of our eleven locations hospice care can be provided by community hospice organizations. The individual is supported by our staff and the hospice organization’s staff, working together to provide compassionate care.

When Is Hospice Right?

Hospice is chosen when a person has a life limiting illness or diagnosis for which treatment is not going to cure the individual. A person is eligible for hospice after being certified by a physician as having a life expectancy that may be six months or less, depending on the course of the disease. If a patient lives beyond six months after admission to hospice, they can continue to receive services as long as a physician continues to document the patient's eligibility. Hospice care may be provided for days, weeks, months and years.
