Saint Elizabeth Home, East Greenwich, and Saint Elizabeth Manor, Bristol, conduct training courses to prepare individuals to become Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA). CNA's are the primary caregivers to the elderly and individuals with chronic illness who reside in our nursing homes. They are responsible for assisting with personal care, feeding, transporting, and documenting changes in the residents’ conditions. These courses are offered periodically throughout the year.
The ten week course consists of classroom work and clinical experience. Course instructors work with students as mentors and tutors to prepare them for the state certification exam. This training course is an excellent opportunity for individuals to gain the confidence and skills they need to begin a career in the health care field. Many of the CNA's currently employed throughout Saint Elizabeth Community began as trainees through this program.
Informational meetings for the classes held at Saint Elizabeth Home are scheduled monthly. You must attend one of these meetings to apply for the class.
